HD-25 vs HD 212pro difference

I've owned the HD212pro for about a year now, and I really love them! I just bought the HD25 adidas originals about 4 days ago.

I'm breaking them in right now, and its been about 45 hrs or so

But now, I just compared them both and honestly I dont really see a huge difference between them.

I'm playing them on computer, flac files from winamp and vlc, and my audio card is Creative X-fi xtremegamer.

I mostly listen to Classicals, Ambient, IDM (like Amon tobin, Eskmo), dub, a bit of psytrance (like OTT, Hallucinogen, younger brother). I dont listen to rock or any vocal stuff much. I'm mostly into the "theatrical music", that creates the space and puts you in that setting.

Im not really liking the closed feeling of HD25s, its almost kind of claustrophobic (I have to turn on the CMSS-3D option sometimes)

and they feel kind of uncomfortable, even though it is much less than from day 1

However I love the energy that HD25s have, the bass is tight and it rumbles. HD212pro on the other hand feels a wee bit muddy and muffled in comparison, a bit light.

Do you think if I get a good headphone amp, I will notice a considerable amount of difference between these two headphones?

Also, If I am to return the HD25 for something else in price range of $300 - $500, what should I go for?

I really dont care if headphones are closed or open, I care the most about audio quality and the euphony. At the same time, I want to feel as if I am the music, and not that the music is coming through headphones and pounding my ears lol

The hd 25s aren't really the best at creating a good soundstage. It doesn't seem fit especially for the kind of music you listen to. What qualities did you get them for? That being said they still should be vastly better than the 212 pro.

I say let your ears + brain burn in too. Give it more head time. And if you still don't like them, send them back.

It seems like its not your sound signature. Probably you like more an open headphone with a nice soundstage.

Well, I just got them because I've been lurking these forums for a while and found out that HD25s sound really good.

I really didn't have sounstage kept in my mind when I bought them. So I guess they're just for testing to see if I like them.

But yeah, I'm definitely seeing a big difference as of today. HD25s feel really detailed than the 212pros, there's a sense of clarity.

HD25s definitely feel like they can handle much more power than the 212s.

I love the 25s sound quality, and I'm not sure if getting a new sound card, or an amp would do it more justice.

But yes, I will probably try to get my hands on some open ear headphones, I have never tried those in my life lol

any idea which ones should I go for? I am looking for soundstage for one, and clarity, it has to be musical and vibrant, if there is enough tight rumbling bass that would be great as well!
