AKG K271 is only significant one I've heard of.
Are there any others around that price range...?
Preferably not too bright highs either, and am looking at studio type cans, not audiophile Denon-type headphones
Thanks!!

Kenwood KH-K1000 has really good mids; maybe not "forward" but they definitely drive the presentation. Very smooth - not "bright" - do great with strings, vocals, etc. Sound good with jazz, ambient, that kind of thing.
Koss Pro DJ100
Not so forward as to ruin any music. Probably as forward as those of the SR-225i, but less treble and more bass.
Despite the DJ label it's not bass heavy and quite balanced sounding to my ears.
Has anyone compared the KRK KNS 8400 to the AKG K271 Mk.II?
They seem to have a similar sound signature - I'd be interested to know where they differ in the highs/mids/low?
