I'm new here and looking for a recommended amp to drive a pair of Audeze LCD-2's for $250.00 or less. I've heard good things about the Schiit Asgard, Hifiman EF2A and the Maverick D1 in general. I don't need digital inputs. Any thoughts?

Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

In general, I would recommend that you wait a little bit and get a better amp/dac combo for a high end pair of 'phones like the LCD-2s. But if you really do go for the entry-level options, someone will have tried it with the LCd-2 at some point.
My LCD-2s are supposed to show up today and I am going to try them with the Asgard but I think I'm headed for a Lyr pretty soon. I had the EF2A and thought it was pretty crappy. Not the SQ so much, but balance at low levels was horrible and mine had a nasty hum as well.
Thanks power. Let me know what you think of the Asgard. The only bad-ish thing I've head is that the combination can lack a little dynamic drive. But everything else I've heard about it seems great.
Heya,
My Asgard drives an HE500 just fine. I actually prefer it's sound over the Lyr which I also have. Go figure.
It'll drive the LCD2 fine. It'll even add a hint of sparkle to it's otherwise darker treble.
Very best,
