As long as it is a mod about the can in the thread title I don't think we should have any problem with it (this happens all the time with other headphone take hifiman or hd800 for example)

I'm for one probably never gonna mod mine but I think those post about diy mod is far more valuable and insightful than those typical " omg I missed the USPS deliveryman again"

point is this is the th900 impressions & discussion thread - not the lawton audio thread is all i'm saying

x2 and there already are dedicated lawton/markl mods threads

Heya, does these sound good on fiio e10k + e12 with 320kbs mp3s? Does is sound still respectable? How treble is compared to dt 990?

Do you use the current out or the voltage out for the TH900? Did you upgrade your 5210 with a better amp board? smily_headphones1.gif

Also, has anyone tried replace the TH900's earpads and change to the earpads of LCD3?
Yes, playitloud has. Higher pads sound even more V-shaped and more hollow. in general higher pads don't work well with the TH900. Stax pads don't work either. The original pads with different stuffing work better for me.

Here is the link with my impression of Audeze pads on Fostex Th-900. As Zolkis said, The Audeze pads did not work for me.

Also where can I buy the Bakoon HDA-5210mk3? Does it supports 240v Australian voltage?

Hi Archeryc - you can buy the Japanese Bakoon au WAR Audio in Perth - that is where I bought mine & they posted to Sydney

I use the current out it has a more pleasant sonic signature the voltage out is more suited to driving plannars such as Hifiman etc

Not quite sure which amp board is installed I will have to take a look & report back.

Anyone thinking of buying the Sony NWZ-ZX1 - I can confirm matches extremely well with the TH900 for a portable.

TH900 is so versatile with so many h/p amps & amp and/or DAC combos one of the greatest flagships ever for versatility.

I heard others preferring it to the Leben as well, which says a great deal. I never had a Leben so I can't compare.

Indeed, the Japanese Bakoon is a fantastic match sonically for the TH-900.

However, due to it being so powerful I wonder if it wasn't more designed to drive planars. You just can't go high up the volume scale with a TH-900, it's damn loud.

I'm undecided. Voltage seems more natural with the TH-900, current is warmer.

Thanks for the reply! I think I will leave the P1u and go for the Japanese Bakoon with SANTRI-UL standard upgrade. smily_headphones1.gif

I heard the HPA-21 and prefer the current output~

Few months ago I tested:

HUGO -> HPA-21 (European version) -> Th900 and... I did not find it better than HUGO direct -> TH900 !

Am I the only one that do not find the Bakon-Fostex synergy fantastic ?

^ Person preference, I suppose.

I have the Hugo with me (on loan) right now and find it way too lean and bright with the TH900. It's pretty good with my custom MH335DW though, but still not quite what I'm looking for.
