I know this is th900 thread before I get commented.

I am sure he560 is a nice headphone, but i believe there will be no headphone like he6 in the future.

He6 is something special, full 3d sounding imo.

thought the he560 was the replacement for the he500. the he6 is still hifiman's flagship can. they'll probably be replacing it with a new model at some stage.

Hey I'm also going to buy TH900 soon. I know you from HD650 thread, please compare them to TH900 once they arrive. I'm going to buy them because they seem to be the only reference headphones with a fun sound signature and great EDM performance.

Especially where I'm from, people would assume I'm either drunk or crazy. In my fiancee's opinion I'm probably both.

My two cents. The 900 easily bests the 650. The sound signatures may be similar but IMO, the treble is better on the 900. The bass is a monster. And it works crazy well with most amps whereas I found the 650 really works well with tube amps. What's not to like?

Lol...  That's funny Brook.  I'm back in the market for another pair of closed headphones.

Having owned the TH900, Alpha Dogs, ATH-W3000ANV, D7000 and the Paradox - but not even hearing the LCD-XC.  It's a hard choice.

If only the TH900s had better mids,  If only the ATH-W3000ANV had a better top end and better quality bass, If only the Alpha Dogs had better quality bass, If only the Paradox was more enjoyable and not so studio like.  The D7000 is a very fun headphone, but it's just too many things to nit pick at.  For all that you get (nice cups and stuff) - I think the TH900 is the front runner.

All IMHO..

P.S.  I'm not getting into any HE-6 talks with my main man Peter..

I was going to get Paradox for fun, someone mentioned that Paradox Slant was superior. One post I read Paradox Slant > TH900 > LCD3.

Is it close to HD800 ? Worth $700 ?

Never heard the Slant, just the first Paradox..  So I guess it would have improved.

@preproman beerchug.gif

My current rig does help bring the mids forward a little, but I wonder if the soundstage would be affected if they were much more forward. Interesting to note, we have not heard any news from Audio Technica about their next "w" headphone and successor for the HE-6 may not be far away. Both could possibly be competition for the TH900. Obviously this is complete speculation, but it can't hurt to have some more summit-fi hp's to drool over.... Can it? biggrin.gif

Until then I have my sights set on the Master 9 to pair with my TH900.

Next AT Woodie ... I'm drooling with you!

On a more serious note:

Anybody have recommendations on a separate Japanese Dac and Amp for the TH-900 and other closed, sensitive, low-impedance cans other than the Luxman offerings?

And what about a tube amp, anything better with the TH-900 other than the ZDSE with absolutely no background noise?

Yep, I've been reading the forums 'till I had a headache the past few weeks. The more I read the less options remain and the more complicated it gets.

Japanese editions of Bakoon amps.
Ask AnakChan if you need local knowledge.

For tubes look at the Stratus.
