spent some time with the he-6 and liked it a lot but the comfort leaves a lot to be desired. plus the th900 is much easier to drive.

Yes. Each one has its virtues.
To me, so far at least, the TH900 is more like a bassy HD800 than it is like the D7000. For some, that sounds like an ideal match--it is indeed pretty awesome (the analogy is not exact of course). But at the moment I still prefer the warmer, more mellow/old school sound of the D7000.
I kind of want to, but weight and amp requirements are an issue for me. Comfort issues extend to all Audeze models as well. HE-560 is awesome though. Audeze needs to do something about their weight and headband design. At least not increasing the weight with every new headphone would be a good start.
yes! that's exactly how i think about the th900. they are closer to the hd800 than the d7000, at least to my ears. very detailed, very "reference", but with more bass than the hd800. and much easier to drive. i have to say that the hd800's soundstage is quite remarkable, though...
I was also worried about the HE6 weight and comfort but it's way more comfortable than Audeze headphones. And as for the amp you just have to use the vintage amp or speak amps that are way cheaper than the headphone amps.
Audeze should really do something about the design, it's total disaster in that department.

Actually for my noggin it's the other way around. The HE-6s are quite poor in the comfort environment; while I can listen to Audeze headphones for hours on end.
You do realize this isn't the HE-6 thread? FWIW, I've owned both headphones for over a year, but I still own the TH900s.
I've been looking to try the he6 but my experience with the he500 was not that great from a comfort perspective. Way too heavy for me. I have some tube mono blocks that would be perfect for the he6 but still not sure whether I want to try them.
On your head, the HE-500s and HE-6s are virtually identical with regards to weight and comfort.
Yes, I know this is TH900 thread, I was suggesting HE6 for TH900 owners sorry guys to deviate from TH900.
I think it's quiet different person to person, I find Hifiman more comfortable than Audeze, it's just "IMO", nothing more.
don't be sorry bro. just coz this is the th900 thread doesn't mean you shouldn't mention other cans here.
