Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure nothing in the speaker realm will come close to the TH900 in the same price point.

i listen to speakers and cans for different reasons/moods so don't see much point in comparing them. the th900 has got fantastic bass for a can tho.

So it's great for EDM but also many other genres such as rock, pop, jazz etc. right? The reason I'm asking is I have Senn HD650s now and they do most genres well but lack the punch for EDM. I'm thinking of selling them and buy TH900s as endgame headphones. I was considering TH600s but I've heard their bass is worse than TH900s' bass. Still the price difference makes me consider TH600s too...

I have the Senn HD650 and the Fostex 900. Well, I don't use the 650 any more. 900 is fantastic for rock (my only genre).

The speakers for me would be mostly for multimedia use, movies, videogames etc, and occasionally for music playing when friends show up bags filled with alcohol.

Is it also good for movies? I know it's not a very audiophile question but I'm thinking of using just one pair of headphones and TH900s seem perfect: Reference quality but still very fun, good bass and great looks, a great all-rounder set of headphones. The world of head-fi is very money and time consuming so I'll just probably buy TH900s and be done with it for at least 5 years.

If anyone listened to both, could you compare TH600s and TH900s?

There are few genres that I don't listen to. I find that the euphonic signature of the TH900 is really good with a broad range of music and the low impedance allows them to be easily driven to a decent standard off many devices (even my galaxy pairs well with it). The only genres that can be a problem (imo) are poorley mastered pop and some JPop due to peaks in the treble or clipping. My current rig handles the treble very well, but overly compressed pop can still be a problem sometimes. I really like them with jazz and rock. I have not tried the TH600 so I cannot comment on them.

I've owned the 900's and had the 600's for about ten days. I didn't hear much difference. Now keep in mind my age is 52 but still have pretty good hearing but I don't hear all these minute differences I read guys talk about all the time.

Some say there's major difference while others say the differences are not that big. Mind boggling indeed. Would you say TH600s are good for EDM?

They are as good as it gets for EDM in my humble opinion.  I listen mostly to electronic music and lots of it is bass fetishist stuff with massive soundstaging.  Eric Holm, Senking, Andy Stott, Haxan Cloak, etc. and these cans slay this type of music.   They are good with all music genres.

Honestly, this is the can I would take if I could only have one.  They sound like an open can and pretty much all music sounds good/enjoyable through the TH900's (unlike some other high-end headphones that are ruthlessly neutral and revealing so you can only listen to well-mastered music through them).

Buy the TH900's, jump off the equipment merry-go-round and focus your attention on discovering new music, free from the requirement that it be well-recorded.

Bit the bullet and put an order out for the TH900's.

Agree, can't go wrong with that one. TH-900 and L3000 were the best phones I owned. W3000 was pretty nice as well and deserves a second place. And LA-7000 of course, but the TH-900 is an improved version of that one.

Just to compete with those beautiful TH900 Amboyna cups here are my D2000 with also Amboyna cups. :D

What's a couple of weeks salary anyway compared to the enjoyment these bad boys will bring me? I'll just sell my HD 650's and hope my fiancee won't ask me what they cost.

Drop the fiancee, that 'll save you enough money to buy a pair of TH-900, B&W 800s and a Ferrari. :D
