i haven't even touched my HD800's since I got them! lol It's just because they're new though.

I'll look into lawton modding them but having to ship them to the US will be likely 60$ each way plus the actual mod. I'm going to order the earpads regardless as they look much better but I'll see what they have to say, I emailed them a few mins ago.

I find the phones go into muddy bass with games more than music, to be fair, my 800's do the same thing, just sounds a bit different. I get my hearing tested at work every year and for the past 11 years, it hasn't changed any, I'm in the top 2% for hearing, so it's excellent as of now. lol

OH I forget you are in Canada as well, I really don't like sending stuff to US and have it done etc etc.

I might just save money to get a better amp or a dac. :)

But let me know how that angle pads sound like,

i'm interested to see how you like the lawton pads as well...i tried the Alpha pads on my D7000 and did not like them at all. i believe the lawton pads are a bit shallower, sort of in between the denon and the alphas, so maybe there's some benefit there. i'm not optimistic, but interested to see some other thoughts.

I just got an email back from Lawton, I'm getting the level 1 kit with the pads. It's a DIY process, so I don't have to send them in! I hate the look of the different ear cups they offer, kind of defeats the purpose of the 900's with the way they make the cups..... plus they are ugly as heck  LOL

$134 including shipping is well worth a try!

Well worth it. Pretty easy to do once you get into the cups.

Ya I find lawton cups are pretty ugly (sorry, just being honest). I will wait for your review and order too.

Maybe Martin cups, the black and white ebony cups are really looking good.

really can't get my head around why anyone would want to do this

I just want the original pads, if anyone knows where I can buy them please let as know. My originals are very worn and will need replacing soonish....

I concur. It was the incredibly beautiful, striking red cups that first made me notice the TH900 to begin with! Replacing these amazing cups with something so bleeding ugly is like hand-spraying "racing stripes" on a Rolls-Royce... :-/

I would try Mark Lawton. He may have some genuine TH900 pads for sale from the ones he has modded.

Just to be clear, I never got the cups, just the earpads and the foam for the inside ( the aftermarket cups are ugly as hell)
Im finding the 900s get overdriven very easily and its worth a try to mod them, since the denon mod was so successful.
