They've been compared quite a few times earlier in this thread.

Has anyone heard the Th900 under balance mode? Will balance mode over drive the TH900? I'm thinking whether I should mod my TH900 to balance for RWAK240... smily_headphones1.gif

A few posts back...I modded my TH900 on purchase for balanced out...Not sure how overdrive will present itself in SQ!

Edit: I am not hearing any distortion at all if that's what you mean by overdrive.

So far after you mod your TH900, you enjoy the balanced TH900 over the stock TH900? smily_headphones1.gif

Oh man, does it rock . The sound is fuller with better two-way extension and a slightly richer SQ overall. This does not necessarily extend to the midrange though which to me is still a little more recessed compared to say the LCD-XC. But this is a fun and very very engaging HP.

1last question: how did u mod your TH900? Did you change your cable or you just mod it to balance base on the original 7N occ copper cable? smily_headphones1.gif

balance won't over drive the the HP but you will have to re-adjust the volume lower if your using the same amp. Most head-fiers I know that have gone balance with TH900 say it makes no difference in SQ they purely do it for cosmetic reasons only. Which is why my TH900 are still single ended and not balanced into the GSX.

90% of low impedance headphones do not benefit at all being balance, the only low impedance phones I know of that do are Grado

I bought my HPs and promptly shipped them to Moon Audio in North Carolina. The company removed the stock cable and fitted it with their Silver Dragon cable with an adapter for balanced outs and shipped it to me in India.

So it's unnecessary to do the balance mod for TH900? If low impedance cans with balance mod do not have obvious change, then why some of the ppl said some of the balance mod IEM have great improvement? I'm confuse now... smily_headphones1.gif

i'm going out on a limb here, but maybe it has more to do with the quality of the cables in this case. The TH900 has a very nice cable, whereas some IEMs may not. This is only a guess though.

Replacing TRS connector with a XLR using the TH900 stock cable thinking it will improve SQ is pointless..... However replacing the cable should give you a slightly different presentation be it good or bad, your taste really depends on what the cable is made of.

You should contact Moon audio they have a good range of cables and are very easy to talk too:D

The benefit for going with balanced cables is to reduce or remove crosstalk since the ground is shared between the left and right channels on unbalanced / single ended cables.  Your amp should also be balanced. How much improvement that affords you only you can say.

Old article but a good read:  http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/balancedheadphones/one.html  http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/balancedheadphones/two.html

thanks for the reply! I'm gonna use the TH900 with my RWAK240 but seems the 3.5 SE are more musical than the 2.5mm balance out. I think I will stick with the SE. smily_headphones1.gif
