I highly recommend the Eximus DP1 with the Audiophilleo1 + purepower.

Well I see used market Eximus DP1 periodically for the same price and the Benchmark DAC2.

Anyone have experiences with both that can compare these using the TH-900's?

And no, I absolutely do not believe in expensive is better.  In case some readers are wondering.

I was deciding for a DAC between these now:

Benchmark DAC2 - Seemingly good reputation

Eximus DP1

Chord Hugo

Mytek Stereo 192

NAD M51 DAC

I have to live with this setup for a year until I get an external AMP such as the Bakoon or Cavalli AMP.

Anybody with real world experience with TH-900 and these DACS input and information is appreciated.

i have only heard the DAC 2 with HD800's. It was not really to my tastes.
I would point out that if you are using the integrated amp on the Eximus DP1 without another volume control in the chain there is not a lot of play in the volume with the TH900. I do have to utilise the volume control on my source or AP1 occasionally because the steps are too large.

Thank you. I will look into that. Thanks for the volume warning.

Excellent deal !!!

Yep, I still think these headphones are worth the original two grand price from a sonics perspective alone.

That price should push anyone over the fence who was thinking about these phones if it's a legitimate offer (hard to tell).

And you don't need any cable upgrade (as far as my ears tell me) with the TH900s, making this deal even better.

What if you work from home? wink.gif

You could just buy several pairs and have headphone stands at measured points throughout the house for "hot swapping". very_evil_smiley.gif

I must have spent the last hour listening to "Imelda" by Mark Knopler on the LCD-3, the XC, and the 900. By far, the 900 gives you the eyes closed, head nodding vigorously experience. Its more of a fuller sound with a pleasing coloration (especially for this song). The XC and the 3 open up the mids more than the 900 but the phrase "more linear" presentation is what comes to mind.
