Really epic EDM track to test the TH900 with is Juanita/ Kite-less/ To Dream of Love by Underworld on Second Toughest in the Infants (over 16 minutes) really throws some very nice layering into the mix - i have it on LP & cd - the cd version I'm going to listen now on my Jap Bakoon

Anything from Eric Prydz especially when under his Cirez D moniker is great for testing your cans. Both the LCD-3 and TH-900 get an A+.

Nice.

What do people think of the TH900 with some more old school electronic, like Tangerine Dream or Jean-Michel Jarre?

Love it...................as well as Jean Luc Ponty and a whole host of smooth jazz.

How heavy is the LCD-XC compare to the TH900?

One of the main problem I have with the LCDs are the weight and clamping force. I have tried the X and they are about as bad as the previous model in these two aspects. TH900 is much more comfitable for me.

LCD-XC = 650g

TH900 = 400g

amazing how google works lol

good news for you though, ortho tech is getting lighter. Hifiman is developing a new flagship pair of headphones that will be half the weight of the previous generation... think about around 325g. that's even lighter than the TH900.

IMO, a slightly unfair comparison given the differing technologies.

How so?  We are talking comfort here.  One is heavier than the other....seems pretty straight forward to me.

Not unfair at all if you're looking at it from a price perspective. The Sennheiser HD600/650 gets compared to Hifiman HE400 all the time.
