I'm surprised you didn't just turn the earpads anticlockwise to unlock the white plastic ring. Also a bit surprised (in a good way) that the cups come damped like that.

I actually try both. First, without the driver and then add the driver and even with the driver I am not able to screw it more than without the driver. So that means, the screwbit itself without driver is sufficient.

GREAT job, Audiowood !!!
I am now on step 17, and hope never to start with step 1. :-)
But with this documentation, there is no panic to have to do step 1.
Thank you!

Great tutorial!

By the looks of that you should be able to remove the ear pads just like the Denon DX000 series by pushing and rotating counter clockwise on the pads.  In your last close up below you can see where the tab will then line up with an opening and the pads will come right off along with the white ring.  It should make re-installation of the pads much easier (put pads on white ring, line up with opening, push and rotate clockwise).

6) There are 4 screws around the cups, removed all four.

Thank you all, of course I hope u won't ever need to use it. Here is how I check, If semi circle black ring of the cups touches the rectangular base of headband, then the screw is loose. A fully tighten screws will not move up or down.

And I believe this is what Audiowood is talking about, in this picture we see that the semi circle cup holder is not in touch with the flat base of the headband so we assume the screw is not loose:

My right side can touch if I push it a bit. Does this probably mean that it's loose?

Both of my sides can touch it with a push, I am not sure if this is inherent from the design to allow forward/backward motion.

Apparently 'my' TH900 arrived at TTVJ broken. Have to wait for the next batch. The eternal wait continues. frown.gif mad.gif

I am also left wondering how this issue wasn't detected in quality control?
