I bought these this week from amazon.co.uk for £10 including delivery. That's US $15. Packaging, appearance, warranty, euro-nanny knows best: Mine arrived in the small European packaging box,...

Absolutely beautiful little player. It's just a gorgeous chunk of tech that feels good to hold. For me personally tech has to have form as well as function and the AK120 doesn't disappoint on...

I agree w most reviews that these does not warrant the $499 MSRP. (Then rather opt for D5k, D7k). BUT - at the +-$230 range I got them at (Amazon warehouse) - these are VERY good value for...

Introduction The easiest way to explain the Sennheiser CX-150's is that they do what you can reasonably expect. You can't really expect much from a pair of sub-50 dollar IEM's, and frankly, I...

Gear mentioned in this thread:
ICompared to my neutral flat Paradox headphones (modded T50RPs) the TH900 has a significantly boosted bass and slightly boosted treble and upper mids.
Paradox LFF measurements
As you can tell (and Tyll points out) that the Paradox's main issues are a roll off around 300Hz. Plus its square wave performance ain't that great. Definitely a top tier can and especially given the price, a fantastic buy.
They are indeed very neutral though but I think imaging probably suffers without the *boost* that you speak of. I need to hear both.

One of my few complaints with the TH900, as people have already noted, is its relatively recessed, laid-back mids compared to its prominent, forward-sounding bass. Has anyone solved, or at least alleviated this downside by using certain amps or adjusting the EQ? If so, which amps or EQ setting helped bring the mids sound more forward?

What's interesting is if you look at the FR curve, the TH900 has a slight V-shaped FR curve which probably explains the slightly recessed mids. If you EQ around ~800Hz that should help looking at Headroom's graph.
Disclaimer: I am considering buying the TH900 or the LCD3 but I have not been able to hear both and need too!

I have both, but if I could only have one it would probably be the TH900.

Love my Paradox, but they are strictly complementary to the TH900, not a replacement. The Paradox is definitely more linear and have their own special magic, but if I could only choose one, it would be the TH900. I really like the Paradox for its portability though since the TH900 is impractical. For that application, I have found no better solution...
BTW, I'm no Audeze fan either...

Doesn't work in Europe though. Belgium is 30% usually.
My latest shimpent was 150% tax, they seem to charge import and VAT on the shipping costs as well.

I was prepared for an extra 260, but when I read the tracking and saw it fly by customs in less than 10 minutes I felt I had a good shot at escaping unscathed. It's very unpredictable,I once paid more for some shirts from the states to FEDEX than the cost of the shirts.FEDEX is the worst for extra charges
