Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread - Page 16

The TH900 doesn't have the issues that stock D7000s do, however. In fact, the headband was the only issue I had with them, at all.

No reason to actually change the D7000 pads, TBH. Just put 3-4 2mm foam rings above the plastic ring in the pads, that does wonders.

Lol!! Not 3 hrs ago when I replied ;-).

 

I must say though I'm particularly keen to hear Muppet's gonna say about the TH900...although I've demo-ed it myself, I'm curious what others think.

I should have some initial impressions up by this weekend. I'm not particularly fond of conducting extensive A/B comparisons between headphones, and I much prefer a journal style set of impressions that unfolds over a period of time, but I plan to use the D7000 and W3000ANV as reference points.

Sounds great, these are two phones I use myself. I'd be happy with just some initial impressions as I'm very interested in these phones myself. I'm still waiting a bit as I fear there could be some huge discount action like with the W3000 at Beach Camera.

I have just been testing all my phones (except the L3000 and W1000X which serve another purpose) with some classical music.

I thought I knew which one would beat all the rest until I heard the D7000 (stock with J$ pads, but long burned in). I was shocked!

Since Fostex makes these I wonder what kind of monster this TH900 will be. And what my both of my D7000s will sound like when those mods finally come in.

I'm sure mods can be done on the th900. Are they not of very similar design?

I wouldn't dream of modding them just yet. "Monster" was meant in a good way, like King Kong.  ;)

I know what you mean xP
But the denons are monsters before being modded. After it's almost overkill xP
But yea, the d7000 are very good, especially at 600$ (which in canada won't even get me a pair of d5000), they're monsters, but we still mod them.
