I am in the market for an affordable, portable headamp and these two have caught my initial interest.  IYE, Which one has the better sound?  I'm not trying to drive anything crazy...just some SR80's and RE-Zero's.  Maybe more down the line.  I listen to mostly free/avant garde jazz, chamber classical, and metal.

Any help?  Thanks in advance!

I have not done an A/B with the two, but I can say that the Bithead is really reliable.  There have been a few posts lately about audible noise from the FiiO products.  Some people say that the Bithead is suseptible to HF noise from other devices in the room, but I have yet to hear it.

If it were me I would go with the Bithead as I can speak of its reliability.

if i remember correctly, the bithead/airhead isn't shielded so it receives interferance from cellphones and such

Bithead is indeed built like a tank and has an excellent crossfeed circuit. But it just doesn't sound nearly as good as E11.

I can't comment on the Bithead but the e11 is fantastic. I never got any hiss from it with my UE triple fi 10 (which hissed with anything due to its sensitivity). For fun I had it hooked up to my bifrost for awhile and was blown away at how well it sounded from an excellent source. It has good power for most anything you might upgrade to and it scales well with sources. It is a slightly warm amp imo, but it doesn't get in the way as long as you leave it on 0 eq setting :)

I don't mean to persuade you but i have had nothing but good luck with it!

I have never heard interference from my TB. The build quality is excellent. A case of you get what you pay for...

Many thanks guys!  I think I am gonna go with the E11. :)

My E11 arrived today and it really is fantastic. Probably one of the best purchases I've made so far to my head audio hobby.  You will have a lot of fun with it also it can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. I highly recommend the purchase. It makes my headphones sing!

Make sure you guys check out the lo/high power switch located under the battery  inside. I think it comes from the factory in the high setting but its good to check. Enjoy, such a fun little amp :)

Yes correct, the E11 does arrive from the factory set to high power output. I changed to low straight out of the box as I've read it helps battery time a lot. I will trial the high setting once I get used to the amp a little more. as I've heard it can boost the mids ever so slightly.

Cheers!
