Bose and Beats - Page 3

Bose and Beats have been bashed, ridiculed, and brought up in just about every other thread in here in this forum's existence, that's probably why people aren't so enthusiastic about talking about it anymore (save new members). You will commonly see comments like "I want bass like the Beats, but want better AQ in other areas too"

I don't own beats nor do I intend to ever, but I have to admit that I like the new colored Beats that are out. The Blue ones do look sick...

So my impression from reading all the replies is that Beats and Bose have really bad sound quality, and by that I'm not saying music sounds crappy in them, but for the price they are bad, apparently they are greatly overpriced. I guess that's it, so in conclusion, those headphones suck (as of, there are much better things to buy with such money). Even though i still have to use them for myself, lol

But he is a good singer, he just sings "teeny -bopper" "pop" songs. and so he is very popular. He's good, but he's not Bob Dylan, or the Beatles. His appeal is to a specific audience who are willing to pay a lot of money to see Him perform. Those that are not his target audience, just don't get it, and don't understand why anyone would fork over that much money to see him.

It's the same with Bose and Beats. they are very different headphones, and they are marketed to a specific audience. Bose utilizes a lot of phsychoacoustics, these makes their headphones sound better than they actually are. People think that they are hearing frequencies that aren't actually there. Beats are marketed towards more of a Hip hop/pop audience, and face it, they do look cool. A lot of effort was put into  exactly that, making them look cool. and they do sound better than most consumer headphones. Are there "better" headphones at the same price, if not less? Sure there are, heck i was just listening to some skullcandy aviators and was actual kinda impressed, I think they are much better phones than Beats or Bose, but that's my opinion. what i think is better is not necessarily the same as what some one else thinks is better. the reason Bose and Beats charge so much, is because they can. people are willing to pay for them. Some people genuinely enjoy their Bose, or Beats headphones, and they can't understand someone paying $1400 and up for hd800's or an lcd-2. to them, audiophiles are the crazy ones.

Psychoacoustics? WOW, that sounds crazy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoacoustics -->  TL;DR, haha.

Honestly i dont see what's so good about their design, besides, I am not the kind of person who would rather get style with headphones which imo are not dressing accessories, so it doesnt seem good idea to pay for that instead of quality sound, but oh well, to each their own.

Finally, even if you prefer [insert whatever artist you like] to Justin Bieber, that doesn't make him bad.

Please don't spout utter nonsense when you have no idea of what you're talking about.

Are you ******* kidding me?

Just because he is a lucky ass boy born with a perfect voice he is not a great artist. A singer he may be, but artist? pffft

You're obviously not his target audience. Why would you be bashing him about it?

Would you take kindly to someone who said that classic rock is crap? Or indie music is crap? Or classical is crap? Or insert whatever you really enjoy. Whats the point about being an elitist when it comes to music? It only decreases your own enjoyment.

I rarely even listen to JB, but I'll admit that his voice has quite a bit of energy and is catchy enough. Though I hate the majority of his songs, some are actually passable. And I do give him credit for being a passable live performer in the video clips I've seen. However, I really dislike his current work.

Anywho, give them a fair chance before judging. Just as with Beats - most Headfiers haven't even bothered to demo it; only passed judgement that they've heard online from others. Learn to form your own opinions.

Regarding Beats and Bose - if you can get them for a very substantial discount (ie. 40% or more off retail) in brand new condition, it is definitely very competitive. I still wouldn't be caught wearing them in public cause I think I'd look like a tool, but if someone else did enjoy the look (as MANY Headfiers do), who am I to judge?

That would only indicate that respondents to that question didn't recommend Bose or Beats. Like I said, search--you'll see that there are many, many threads discussing both brands (especially Beats, of late).

Ha, yeah, that bash. The thing is the dude's voice is amazing (not that i like it), i just dislike artists like him, which imo are used as tools by music industries. Besides, his songs are shallow and the background music is pretty much bad <--- and THAT I DESPISE.

Well, 40% off retail is unlikely, and anyways, any quality headphones with that discount are more than extremely competitive.

oh by the way, i slightly listen to classical, i love emotional instrumental music, soundtracks from lets say movies, and electronic in general, i dont know electro genres but as long as it is good quality, i enjoy it. Also metal.

My real problem with JB is that if your getting expensive headphones you choose to listen to him. Pink Floyd did magic Justin bieber and all pop stars adele etc sing music thats just bs vocals and drum machine.

The only genre I've heard so far that doesn't scale well is K-Pop, which is just too overproduced. Meh, people can do what they want when they spend their money. I mean some people use TOTL rigs and listen to MLP remixes.

You can say that about almost any mainstream artist of today, really. Rappers always have their catchiest songs hitting the top 40, but the truly well-written verses are found on mixtapes that most people have never even heard of. Likewise, the radio loves any JB song with a catchy hook, but I've actually listened to a lot of his other work including covers of other popular songs today and his voice has matured rather nicely. As cliche as this may sound, a lot of the songs off of his most recent Christmas albums really showcase his vocal abilities; ironically enough, "Mistletoe", his lead single off the album and the one that has received the most airtime, is rather lacking in the vocal department compared to a lot of the other tracks on there.

We can sit here and debate whether or not his work can be considered "music" or "art" or whatever you want to call it all night long, but in the end, a large part of it is still subjective. You can't deny, though, that the kid is wildly successful and is making loads of money, so I have to give him props for that.

Even if Bieber has a good voice, if his music is bad, that's all that matters. Also, I'm not sure if Beats are a good deal even at 40% off. Bose maybe, but mostly because of noise cancelling.

I love it how we end up talking about music :3

Have you even listened to MLP fan-made music? I wouldnt even compare MLP remixes to K-Pop.

I bought my Denon's no long ago, and I listen to a lot of MLP fan-made music, besides other things of course.

Probably because the majority of people is shallow minded and with undeveloped tastes for music, and i think that;s a pretty good reason for saying that most of the really commercial music is not elaborated, meaningful, of good quality, etc. Honestly I have no idea how the music in the radio changed from good artists like The Beatles to rappers talking about bitches and Commercial-Pop (im pretty sure that has to be a genre, lol)
