Question about Sennheiser HD650

Thread Starter

If someone who owns these could have a look and tell me the answer to this that would be great....

I noticed from photos that the centre of the Sennheiser HD650 have a metallic looking dome which I guess is the tweeter... Is this a metal tweeter or a soft dome tweeter?

Because I don't like metal tweeters and if it is metal then it seems strange to me that everyone describes the HD650's as very smooth rolled off treble because usually metal tweeters are the total opposite of this? Metal tweeters tend to sound sibilant with a mettalic type sound character to them.... I wan't to avoid this really as I just sold my other speakers and swapped them for soft dome dynaudio ones....

There is no tweeter. I know what you're alluding to - some car speakers have centrally mounted co-axial tweeters. However, the HD650, like almost all full size headphones only have a single driver - there's no tweeter and the driver is not metallic.
