Question about ps audio digital link3

i have a ps audio digital link3 and i have a question about it .

is ps audio dl3 a real balanced dac?

By "real" do you mean balanced outputs having a nominal signal, inverted signal, and shield?  If so, this is from Paul & the PS Audio archives:

 

 The DLIII has a fully balanced output meaning there are two fully discrete output stages, one for the inverting and the other for the non-inverting output as fed from the balanced DAC outputs.

Think of these as two completely separate outputs that you can do anything you want to with them. We take the non-inverting output and connect to pin 2 of the XLR and the the center pin of the RCA together. We take the inverting output and connect this to pin 3 of the XLR.
