V-modas crossfade lp2

Hey guy, first post here!

I had been lurking in this forums for quite a while. Currentpy i own a Shure's se 215 and Bose Mie2i for my portable needs.

After researching i finally decide to get a pair of v-modas lp2 because of reviews mentioninb incredible build quality, great comfort(more than m80 as those are supraurals) and finally for me, aesthetics which i quite care about.

Now as for the question, i mainly listen for smooth jazz, bossa(or other relaxing genres as new age), tech house, country, some rock(not too much) and thats basically it.

So please tell me, how are these headphones going to handle these type of genres.

Ps: i was previously deciding between the lp2 or m80, but i care alot for comfort which circumaurals are definetly better for me atleast. Dont tell me about the m100. My budge is below 200$!

Im planning on using this headphones in home or when travelling by plane.

Thx in advance guys! :)

M80 is going to handle those genres MUCH better than the LP2 (if you want the v-moda styling)

The LP2s are too bass heavy for most of those to be enjoyable

Thx for your reply.

The thing is that i care for comfort just like sq, 50/50 comfort and sq.

Its so hard to decide

Yea soundwise the M80 are a lot better. I picked up LP2 but was quite letdown soundwise but loved their build quality. Let's say I didn't find the LP2 more worth than $75 stock and $125 or so with some EQing. I even find the $30 Panasonic HTF600 (which undoubtedly is good for the price soundwise) slightly better sounding than the LP2.

How are these compared to the bose ae2 and denon 1100?

I own these and am happy with them, but I do agree that their SQ isn't that great for what they cost. The reason I am happy is because for a portable headphone they do all the things I need, look good, isolate pretty well, comfortable for extended use, come with carrying case, built like a tank etc etc.

I wouldn't use these in a home setup, but it doesn't sound like that is what you need anyway. The M80s are also pretty comfortable, I would try to demo those (you can check Radioshack, I think they have them sometimes) but ultimately if sound quality isn't your #1 priority the LP2 may be right for you.

What was it that makes these not such a good sounding headphone?  Is the bass too boomy or is there a lot of bleed over to the mids?  Recessed mids?

Slightly boomy midbass that overhelms the midrange a bit, uneven midrange => shouty, colored vocals (they are sticking out decently/quite good but what you hear doesn't sound accurate at all), very recessed highs. Let's put it this way the M-Audio Q40 headphones I have now that can be picked up for $120 does sonic wise everything better than LP2, bass, mids, highs, soundstage, instrument separation etc you name it.
