Best headphones between 200-600$, mainly for listening to techno and a bit for FL studio 10!

Hi,

I've been looking for a thread answering my question but I couldn't find anything that was aiming my needs so i'll just make this post!

Short story long, I used to have some Bose IE2 but decided that I wanted something that better... Way better.

I am mainly listening to techno... Here's a few artist I listen to so you can see what kind of music I listen to: Deadmau5, feed me, Davicii, skrillex, bassnectar, wolfgang gartner, kaskade.

I'm a bit all over the place i know...

so back to the headphones... I was planning on the bose Quiet confort but when I saw about their battery dependance.. I drop off. I finalle decided to buy some shure 750dj!

I think they sound great but I just feel like I could get something better... My price range would be between 200 and 600 $ and with so many headphones I just don't know where to begin. I desire headphones with crisp high, smooth mids and powerfull bass without beeing overwhelming! I'm. Besides that I don't know what else to say... No beats? Kthxbye

so yhea.. Great headphones for techno, 200-600$ ( i'd rather if they didn't cost more than 400$ but if it's a good price/value, post it!), and yhea that's it!!

cheers.

None of those artists are techno, and its avicii by the way.

Look into some Beyerdynamics, 880 or 990

Denon D2000/D5000s are highly regarded on head-fi lately for their performance with electronic genres, I dont have any personal experience but I guarantee someone else will recommend them.

D2k's are $280-320 on Amazon and the D5k's are $450-550 from what I've seen on amazon/a few other sites.

You didnt specify open or closed but both of those are closed.

Why these over the D5000? :)

They're just a go to recommendation. Also based on the fact you want to take your cans on the bus and outside in general the D5000 is a bad idea.

1: They're huge.

2: They're fragile.

3: They're a closed design, but one of (if not the most) 'open' closed sound out there. Meaning they let a lot of sound in and out.

They do look very interesting but some pople are pointing out that it "doesn't have sufficiently amplified sound, then even at the highest volume the sound won't be very loud"
I'm Personnaly  using mostly my ipod... do you think that could be an issue?

Both the D5000 and Pro 900 should be powered just fine out of an iPod.

I've read pretty much every where that such headphones ( AH-900 ) should be amplified... Any recommendation on the iPod amplifier I should buy? does the amplifier actually makes a notable difference in the sound quality output?

beyerdynamics 880.    if you want more quantity of bass, then 990 i guess...  for deadmau5, kaskade... i'd go with the 880s and a decent amp to drive them.  try to get the 600ohm, 250ohm if you have to..  you have more than enough $$ in the budget for dt880 (600ohm) and good amp i'm sure

Fyi, I'm only really repeating what I read about most of yesterday, but agree with based on my own limited experience with them.

Yes. The difference is noticeable on a lot of headphones. For a starter portable amp look into the line of FiiO products.

Yhea i was actually looking into their products... As to you, is there a significant difference in the quality of the sound between the e1 and the e3?
