Inexpensive DAC/Amp suitable for K702?

Thread Starter

I'm looking into the K702, but I'm afraid my current set up really wouldn't be able to do much with it. (I'm running off a Macbook Pro through a PreSonus Audiobox USB mini audio interface.) If you all happen to know much about it, and think it'd be okay, let me know but I'm just assuming.

ANYWAYS: I'm looking for a good DAC/Amp combo that could drive the K702 well. I've heard good things about the Audioengine D1, but I have no idea if it can push out enough to drive them, since the 702s are fairly tough to drive. I'm on a budget though, and $200 is about my limit... Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

The Audinst HUD-mx1 with the external power supply did a more than adequate job of driving HD600's when I evaluated it. It's been some time since I listed to K701's, but the Audinst has a warm-side-of-neutral presentation that I think should work well with AKG's.
