PC speakers packed in, looking for helpful advice

I know this is primarily a headphones forum but I noticed a couple of threads on speakers and the content here is much better than most forums I've found in search of advice.

I have some Logitech Z4's right now that have recently started crackling and buzzing, also sometimes the left speaker cuts out entirely. So I'm interested in some new ones which are a bit of a step up. My budget is around £200 and so far i've been interested in something like the corsair SP2500. Which seems to be the high end of the PC speaker market, or some studio monitors such as the Alesis M1 active Mk2's or some Krk rokit 5" G2's.

I tend to use speakers for a complete variety of things, gaming, DVD's, music (mostly electronic, dubstep, DnB, trance) and the occasional small house party (max 20 people in a UK sized room) and hobby mixing on the PC (traktor).

I'm a bit lost as to what would be the best setup. I don't have a high end sound card, just an old Soundblaster Audigy, so I don't have any crazy output options. I'd preferably like something with a bit of thump to the bass but without going for some ridiculous sub that overpowers everything else.

Thanks for any feedback

Look into the XTZ MH800 DSP.

For use in a small house party and with up to 200 quid : could be awesome if u spotted and bought the right stuff in the used audio hardware market IMO tongue_smile.gif In the UK places online like Gumtree, etc is good source of used receivers/amps and floor standers

Checked out gumtree and found these the price is excellent and Solihulls only a 20 min drive from where I am. Is it too good to be true, a new pair of MKII's would be more than double that price. Is the Mk1 really bad or?

Cheers for the feedback

Thats the old rokit 6's thats why the price is low, however it's still a good buy. These would be much better suited to your needs though http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/behringer-truth-b1031a-high-resolution-active-studio-monitor--71164 they won't crap out when you crank up the volume.

I read behringers use poor quality components and are prone to dieing?

Not all behringer stuff is bad, some of it is prone to dieing and some of it is really good I own there passive b2031p which has been fine but then again theres not much that can go wrong with a passive speaker, I havn't read anything about the b1031a being faulty yet.

The b10**a are really good monitors and very for the money id take them over the krk's they also sound good at really high volumes so will be good for your parties, they also measure really well aswell http://dtmblabber.blogspot.com/2010/07/another-cheap-behringer-monitor.html , http://dtmblabber.blogspot.com/2011/01/krk-rokit-6.html
