Clip Zip Problem- hanging with microSD

Hi there people. So, I managed to wreck my Clip+ a week ago (fell into the floor right with the power button, which got disconnected from the mainboard, and totally f**d it up by trying to fix it), and ended up buying a Clip Zip. It arrived yesterday. Everything looks fine, except for one thing: if I have too much music on my microSD card, the mp3 will turn itself off after refreshing the library and the only wat to turn it back on is to do a master reset (press power during 30 secs) and remove the SD. If I have little music (about 1GB) on it, it boots just fine.

Also, if I manage to turn the MP3 on with rockbox with the SD card, the software gets pretty slow, buw without it (or with the 1GB of music on it) it works fine. Any ideas why this happens or a fix? Thanks :)

EDIT: the Clip Zip is the 8GB Edition, which are completely full (but it still happens if its empty), and the SD is a class 4 PNY of 8GB, which is also full ATM.

Bump?

The Clip Zip has issues with some non Sandisk cards. Sandisk is working to resolve this. Until they do, use only Sandisk cards.

If refreshing the media takes too long, it could be that your tags are messed up, or you have unnecessary tags. The Sandisk players use ID3V2.3 ISO 8859-1 tags. Get rid of all other tags.

So, after many hours of searching, I found the problem: Clip Zip has problems with aac (specifically m4a) files. It just doesn't boot at all if the fiels are in the SD and will take AGES to refresh media if they are in the internal memory. I got rrid of these files and now it works fine.

I just read that some have also had problems with the Clip Zip with Sandisk cards faster than class 4.

The AAC issues have also been mentioned on the Sandisk forums. Hopefully Sandisk will fix these problems soon.

No point in waiting when Rockbox works fine already!

I don't think non-Sandisk cards could be a problem.

Because I use a Transcend 32GB Class4 card with my zip(rockboxed) which is 20GB filled with FLAC & mp3 files.

Media scanning never takes more than 5 seconds with rockbox!
