Beyerdynamic Leatherette headband for Denons

I heard awhile ago that a snap-on headband made by Beyerdynamic could fit over the Denons (D7000's) and provide a little extra headband comfort. Has anyone had experience with this?

I could only find them on sale from Moon Audio here:

http://www.moon-audio.com/headphones/beyerdynamic-headphones/beyerdynamic-leatherette-headband-pad.html

Is this the correct headband? Is there anywhere else I can get them? The shipping is $10 for ground, and that's a bit much for a small headband.

Talked to Dubbed awhile ago and apparently these pads do fit, you just need to stretch them.

If you're in the US, the only place I found with the pads is in the original post, the Moon Audio link.

If you're worried they may not fit, wait until Dubbed or I get a pair and post impressions.

I'll probably pick them up now, come to think of it.

So would you put them on top of the original headpad or would it have to be removed? I assume on top...

On top, definitely wouldn't remove the current headpad.

The headband of the Denon's is thin and rather flimsy IMO. Strange that they would use something like this on such a nice pair of cans. It is oddly not uncomfortable to me. What I'd be after is a more snug fit with an added headband.

I wouldn't call it flimsy, just not clamping.

I'm looking for a little extra padding as well, mostly to transform these into absolute bliss. :D

My next step will be to find a decent price for some J$ or Lawton pads (which I bet will be impossible).

I finally got it, and overall, it was pretty much a failure.

I've heard you have to "stretch" it, and as soon as I tried that, it tore. The pleather is about as thick as tissue paper. However, it only tore on the inside part, so I decided to try getting it on, and as I did, it continued to tear and tear. Eventually, I just tore the whole inside to get the extra space, and was able to get it on. However, it bunched very oddly, and the fact that it was so tight made it even more uncomfortable than the stock Denon headband. It also looks grey and pitiful compared to the Denon's nice black headband. The pleather is of pretty poor quality.

I'd stay away. :(

Right so after hearing the sad news (of it snapping) + some recommendations from another head-fier:
I decided to keep them (and not send them in for a refund)

-> I had bought the item from a UK seller which posted to the UK, and as I went home for several days, I picked up my snap-ons, however wasn't able to test it, let alone stretch it for my D2K's.

So I decided to "bite the bullet" and take it home (to france)

I have to admit its not as straight forward or a pleasant experience.

I had to stretch the snap-on width wise...and to be quite honest, this thing is well built...for its original purpose, not for the denon's.

Anyway, so as I started stretching it, I could hear the material tearing. So I stopped, then continued on the other side (hehe)

I ended up "giving up" - I went ahead and did the logical "mathematical" approach.

Why "bolt" them all on, when I could just do the outer edges?

Ok it won't look as pretty but there are two advantages from doing this:

1. It won't damage the leather at the top of the D2K's

2. It will fit, and not actually rip - meaning a wasted £16.

So here it is, beyer snap-ons -> not so perfectly on, nor good looking, but certainly more comfortable on my head with that extra padding.

I can finally wear these without having "2 metal wires at the top of my head"

I also realised that due to the added padding, i've had to add 1-2click of size on them denon's -> which is GREAT for me :)

Rip - within the beyer pads (centre in this case, also happened on the sides)

When the beyers are forced to be "closer together" to snap-on so to speak, it wrinkles the denon's leather (not nice if you don't plan to make the snap-ons permanent):

No pressure to close, we can see the denon's leather, just how its supposed to be.

i want to mention that both version, new and old, do not fit.

However i was able to sort of attach the old version to the d2k.

That's pretty cool - could we see another angle of the headband?

I've got mine off, as if you leave it on, it damages the leather headband

Why you think it will damage the original headband?

I will make some more pictures for you tomorrow.
