Hi! I am new in forum. I always facinated with sound. My father use to have his radio studio, i spent lots of time there when i was a child. I got this from there i guess.

I was searching for information about headphones and forund here. I Loved it! All these modifications and amps are amazing. Especialy for me, because i love modding things. Modding things that i like. I saw all these things and i realy envy to you guys.I hope i can make my own modded headphone eventualy. But for now, i have to hold myself. I am drowning with lessons, i will be FREE this summer i cant wait.

But for now, i just broke(throwed through to wall because it was making vibrations(dont know what is in english, you got it) at high and low sounds and the cable... anyway) and i need new one. And i need some advise, and basic knowledge.  I hate studying and listening music, making it much more easy. I can go up to 100$ as limit. What would you recommend? And can you tell me about headphone basicly, what should we looking, what does that ohm, power handling, freequency responces. I know what freequency meanings, wider is better. Also probably lower it is, better bass? Ok i dont know anything.

I listen vary of music types. Metal, rock, rap, pop, techno, house. I love espacialy bass. I am wondering how is Sony XB-700? Its my first on list. (only one, i dont know how to compare)

So greetings to everyone again, i hope i didnt bore you :D

Heya,

The XB700 would definitely do you some justice. Maybe a touch of equalization to bring the mids & treble up a tad, but only a small amount.

Also look at the Panasonic HTF600.

Take a look at the M-Audio Q40 as well.

Very best,

Well, i wonder if it would be good if I buy a headphone. I am listening my music from my phone, n96 as FLAC. People use amps, wich i cant afford. Do i really need amp? And amps has 10hz-10 000hz ratio while XB-700 has 3hz-xx000 ratio. I wonder is this about basses? Can you explain how it affects the base, as sony has 3hz minumum, others hard to reach that. I realy wonder. If its doesnt that matter

Or should i better get in ear ones for now? Need advise

don't worry about frequency response as much as sound. you can't really hear much below 20 hz and most headphones do a good job going down low anyways.

i would recommend in-ears for your budget. ultimate ears makes some good ones under 100 dollars. i would recommend the metrofi 220 or klipsch s4. the metrofi was discontinued i think though, but u can still find them for sale in alot of places, wish i still had my pair, great cable, great sound.... oh well.

Please do not get the Panasonic HTF600 unless you are ready to sacrifice a LOT of sound quality just for some bass. On top of that, their ear cushions are the worst there are - making your skin sweat like there is no tomorrow. Actually, I'm returning my pair tomorrow because of the above reasons. I noticed you are going after the hype with the Beats. If you want, you could go to a music store and try them along with another pair of a quality company like Denon or Sennheiser. I'm sure you will notice the difference. Be aware that there are many fake Beats online.

A tremendously good-sounding all-round headphone with an emphasis on bass is the Denon AH-D1100. The cushions are like pillows around your ears, the sound... amazing, really - rich, with quite a bass response but not to the extent where it makes your head hurt. When I tried them in the store, thy gave some of my tracks a new life, allowing me to hear sounds I have not noticed before. If you have a bestbuy nearby or some other store, make sure you check them out at least. If you decide to buy them, there is a coupon code (EXPODEALS) on electronics expo that gives you $100 off, making them just in the range of your budget - $100. One con that everybody is talking about are the cracking earcup holders, but honestly, I am starting to believe that the sound quality is worth the trouble of going to the store and using your warranty to swap them for a new pair. Moreover, you said you liked modding - if you know how to work with metals, you could make your own earcup holders out of alluminium (that could be quite the challenge).
