I have just ordered the Oehlbach cable from Jan Meier as well. It should arrive in about ten days. I will be posting initial impressions as soon as I get it.

Cheers,

wow this cable is really big. its also pretty long, for my tastes anyway. Is wrapping up the middle 4 feet into 5 loops a bad idea? Any interefence possiblities?

I apologize for ever saying this cable looked thing. Its a beast compared to the stock cable

For my purposes (with my shoddy system) every upgrade cable I have tried was not worth the required investment, and I have tried 4 or 5 of them.

Aesthetically sure, but sonically I just can't tell that much of a difference. The mobius had the most noticeable affects, offering a much brighter sound than the others, but I thought it sucked aesthetically. One thing that certainly is worth paying for is the 1/4" termination.

I ordered the oehlbach over a week ago, should be here soon! Fortunately it is priced guilt-free in comparison to the others

GO JAN MEIER!!!!!!!!!!

Michael, what is your system, since you say it's shoddy? And did you notice any effect of burn-in?
All of the cables I purchased were used, with the exception of the new oehlbach which I just received. Couldn't comment on the burn-in factor really.

I listen to alot of mp3's and the power in my house is crap. I am often times too distracted by other interfering factors to truly evaluate the impact of the cable on the system as a whole. Not to mention the fact that my system is constantly changing! I can safely say that unless the cable is really really crappy, most listeners will probably not notice much of a difference.

Very happy with the oehlbach so far, to put it into perspective, you could buy one of the newer high end cables for 150-200$ or you could buy a pair of (120-170$) headphones from Jan and toss in the oehlbach for 30$.

You get the idea....

personally I would spend some money on a decent source, because Audigy2... Mp3 will never show the ful potential of HD580 --IMHO.

get an maudio revo for 99 bux from newegg.com heh ... or RME Digipad 96/8 which they say is even better.

a tb santa cruz is even cheaper, and certainly sounds better than the audigy.

eh, 3 weeks ago I bought an RME Digi96/8 Pad, so I think the source is pretty good now
