Android phones and USB DACs - Page 449

The ASUS ZenFone 2 seems like the latest bargain for USB DAC users. This guy is using it with his ZuperDAC: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/zuperdac-portable-hifi-music-anytime-anywhere#/story

It's been tested with a 128Gb Micro SD card. With the 64Gb version, you get the fast-charger and 4Gb of RAM, etc. At $299 shipped (US), it's very tempting. Has anybody any experience yet?

My Epiphany Acoustics ODac and 02 Amp doesn't seem to work with my Note II but my DacMagic Plus works fine, I just need to plug my hub in to the usb charger first then I can disconnect it.

In fact, I think it might be possible to run the DM Plus and the HDMI at the same time through my hub. Has anyone tried this?

Am currently using it to drag and drop 64 Gb from the micro sd card to a 500 gb portable drive I ripped out of an old Archos Media Player that stopped working. And it still played audio from either SD or Disc Drive through bluetooth. So I have a 580 Gb Note II media centre running!

Yeah, that's what I thought too. But Sony (and a few others) seemed to have wrecked it instead of featuring it.

Fiio E7 even shows up in the list of dacs known to work with native Android L:

I've just recently got a Nexus 7 2013, so I'll try it out on that and see if it works. I won't mind so much about it not working on Moto G if I can get it to work on Nexus 7 :D

I tested with a Schiit Modi 2 Uber. I'll fiddle with other DACs later.

did native usb support 24/96 and 24/192 to external dac, or did it downsample?

So far Android's native USB Audio downsamples. If you require Hires, then you can use Onkyo HD player or USBAPP. I'm not a believer in Hirez due to human limitations. IMO the Master and Mixdown determine the results.

Neither my Bifrost Uber or Sennheiser HDVD 800 will connect to my Samsung Tab S since installing Lollypop. Except UPAP will run. Apparently it has its own usb driver.
Tab S worked perfect before Lollypop. Tried a known working powered usb hub and cables To no avail.
