Thanks a lot, this is great news! 500mA is more than enough! smily_headphones1.gif

Zing. Yeah, I'll try with my Fiio in a wee bit.

Just wondering how are you guys using the USB DAC?

I have my phone in one pocket, and my amp+dac on the other side, with a custom made USB OTG cable long enough for me to pick up calls and use the phone without needing disconnect.

Is everyone using it in a static setup?

3M Low-Profile Dual Lock here. I just stick it to the back of my Note 2 case. It looks a bit like a bomb, so people give me extra space on the L train.

I nearly gave a woman sitting next to me on the bus a heartattack. You should have seen the look on her face when I took out two black metal boxes (FiiO E18 USB DAC/Amp and FiiO E12 Amp) and wired them up to my cellphone. If I would have said Allah Akbar she would have passed out. :D She was probably grinding her teeth waiting for my cellpone to ring and go kaboom. Once I took out my headpohones, she must have breathed a sigh of relief.

That reminds me of the days of pagers. I was once on a crowded bus with my pager on vibrate. All of a sudden my pager went off and the woman next to me jumped. I think she got a cheap thrill out of it.

That's basically how I do it.  OGP in one pocket, DAC/Amp in the other.  I like to use airplane mode while listening though.

I can only imagine if my cellphone rang.

Did you get a chance to try the FiiO?

Nope. Grabbed my E07k and now suddenly the Sabre DAC isn't working. shows "USB connector connected", but she's not lighting up. I've only had this thing a couple of weeks. It hasn't seen any abuse yet :-/

That being said, if I run my E07k off the S4 (via an OTG cord) playing the same files, they don't skip. The Sabre DAC must have been faulty...

I'm going to just stick with my ipod5G to E07k setup until the X5 hits western shores -_-

If I remember the X5 will also serve as a USB DAC. I think the X3 has seen a firmware upgrade that allows the same. Not sure how either might work with an iDevice. Does your E07k work with other iDevices?

Don't have any other idevices to test with... Just a Clip Zip, a Galaxy Player 4.2 and a Cowon X9. I wasn't going to use the X5 as a DAC off of the SGS4, just as a standalone ;)

I bought a Galaxy Player 5 some time ago. I was dissapointed because it didn't have enough CPU to get it on. The amp wasn't half bad and the battery has staying power., Unfortunately Samsung abandoned that series of devices rather quickly.  They'll never be a USB connection for that, even though they billed it as a music player.
