See the last paragraph of the post you replied to:

But speaking of 2012 Nexus 7, if you go to the rootzwiki forums, there is a rom/kernel developed by "Timur" which provides full USB Audio support.  It's popular among 2012 N7 owners especially those who are using nexus 7's for car installations, but you can use it for head fi purposes too.  It might be an older version of android (4.2.2?), but it works.  Just FYI. (but if I wanted USB audio support on my 2012 N7, I'd try CM11 first and then go to this since this Timur Rom is a 4.2.x rom)

http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37755-timurs-kernel-usb-rom/

On the 2012 Nexus 7, if CM11 doesn't work, use Timur's USB rom/kernel and you're set.  2013 Nexus 7 has already been confirmed here with CM11.

Hot-plug works the first time but as bhazard mentioned, once you unplug once you won't get sound again till you reboot.

Just as I had posted weeks ago.

If you want to help get this bug fixed, let our hero Steve Kondik know via this Google+ post:

https://plus.google.com/app/basic/photos/+SteveKondik/album/5911749113479600353/5911749113490649778?cbp=qy4e1afhlyqf&sview=27&spath=/app/basic/100275307499530023476/posts&sparm=cbp%3D12o220wi56zzg%26sview%3D27%26spath%3D/app/basic/%252BCyanogenMod/posts%26sparm%3Dcbp%253D7tqevoub7xrj%2526sview%253D25

In that Google+ post, he thinks it was fixed, but we know it's not.  Also, don't forget to thank him.  Kondik in 2016!! :)

I suppose it's worth asking, although I'm pretty sure I know the answer:

Anyone still have their Nexus 5 pure stock?  Probably not with CM11 supporting USB Audio, but I am curious to know if the new 4.4.1 update for Nexus 5 enables USB audio.  CM support is huge and I really, really, appreciate Kondik and the CM team for their work, but the real gamechanger is when Google/AOSP enables it (if ever).

So anyone here have 4.4.1?  USB Audio work on it without UARP/UAPP?  Thanks.

No still doesn't work.

Any 1 try CM 11 for nexus 4 to see if USB audio works? I doubt it though.

I just finished loading 4.4.1 build KOT49E 4.4.2 build KOT49H onto my Nexus 7 2013 and here are the (unchanged from 4.4) results from before:

Nexus 7 (2013) Wifi (Flo) (Android 4.4.2 build KOT49H, rooted, stock kernel, stock ROM):

Fiio E17: does NOT work with PowerAmp

Audioengine D1: does NOT work with PowerAmp (requires powered USB OTG Y-cable)

Both DACs still work fine with UARP 1.2.8 trial (D1 requires external USB OTG power).

EDIT: updated with 4.4.2 KOT49H info

Wanted to join to say what I have WORKING:

2013 Nexus 7 (deb) on CyanogenMod 11 (CM11) specifically the 2013-12-08 nightly,

With a Y OTG usb cable, I have a NuForce uDAC-2 working with no modifications otherwise. HOT PLUGGING works. I just plug it in to the Y cable, the other end into the tablet, and supply the power, and everything gets routed with zero issues.

Same exact situation with a NuForce Icon DAC. Works like a dream.

Hope this helps. Been going crazy trying to get it work for a couple months, and this rom fixed it!

Anandtech just posted an article showing the Nexus 5 having a THD of 15% in the left channel at max volume. All the more reason for a USB DAC, or not running at max volume.

Good news is that this phone is going to be available to Taiwan too. So far I've only played with this phone & the Vamp Verza. I'll need to see where I can find an iBasso D-Zero SE in the shops to test the above setup.

Hey I am in Taiwan too. Rumor sites say, available today. Guang Hua has Samsung store, and also, well some FiiO anyway. Where to find iBasso here?

In Taiwan? Dunno. I'm unfamiliar with the shops there. Otherwise just go to ibasso's website. (www.ibasso.com)

I was curious where that conclusion came from myself. Afterall the ZX1 is like other android devices (and to be more specific, Android 4.1.1...I think this is pre-Jelly Bean?). Anyway if anyone is curious, it's worked with my Leckerton UHA-6Mk2 but not my Resonessence Labs Herus.
