If you are sick of the lack of full native USB Audio support in Android, please flood them with requests about it.

https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list

Click new issue and enter the issue.  Under template, choose "Feature Request" because, as I learned first hand, they simply close the request to fix this if you select bug/defect.

Thanks and maybe this will help shake something out!

I was actually still rooted when I updated, but I had to restore some files that had been modified (mainly framework files). But for your purposes: Updating to 4.3 did resolve my issue, the E18 now works with my S4.

There is at least one unconfirmed report that Jelly Bean 4.3 is helping with the USB host issue on the S4.

Hopefully I will be able to offer some more info soon. There are web-rumors that AT&T will be rolling out this update starting today.  We'll see.

The Exynos Note3 is unable to play HD music when connected to the Apex glacier(only 16/44.1 plays flawlessly).

The Snapdragon Note3 is able to play HD music with the Apex Glacier flawlessly.

That's nothing, there were $300+ silver conductor iPod line out cables that are just long enough to connect the line out dock to an amp strapped onto the iPod.

My jaws just dropped too. WHAT. I can get an Arcam CDP for that and just wait until I get home, where there aren't distractions like getting off at my stop or my boss' secretary walking over to tell me to go somewhere!

Haha, enjoy everyone: Pure (gold) madness! If anyone out there actually has this, please do a review. We promise not to laugh. If anything, a salute and respect for having the balls to make that big a leap of faith, and the moolah to go with it

It's confirmed that Android JB 4.3 does better as a USB otg host.  I can now use my Fiio e18.

Anyone with a Nexus 5? Just curious how Android 4.4 handles audio/USB OTG.

I only have the HiFiMeDIY Sabre Tiny but it doesn't work with Poweramp... probably does with UARP but I'm not ready to give up the functionality

You'll have to use a custom rom or kernel once they start appearing. You need to use UARP to get it working, otherwise it doesn't work.

Eh I don't have one yet.  Why can't Google get with the program?  Android is supposed to be the Swiss army knife of mobile operating systems but there aren't any Android devices (namely tablets) from reliable brands still being manufactured with USB ports and very few, if any phones have the ability to pass unaltered digital audio through USB (something that should be insanely easy with USB).
