What phone are you using? I don't think I've had distortion since the galaxy s2 .. which was like 2 years ago

Has improved a lot since but I think it is still a little bit behind apple with the exception of possibly the note 3

Well the nexus-5 is out.

Some interesting news about audio...

Google has introduced audio tunnelling to DSP in Android 4.4. There is a DSP processor on nexus 5 that decodes audio, instead of using CPU for this.

This saves a lot of battery, allowing to double the playback time (on same battery).

Don't know if this will work when using usb dacs too.

Nexus 5 *should* support full usb-otg too. Please confirm with some DACs if you get one, especially with the "high power draw" ones :)

Only 16 or 32 Gb of storage WITHOUT Micro-SD expansion possible !   Too Bad.....  not enough  room for High-Res files !

I'm using a Nook HD(+) with a powered usb hub. What did they end up fixing on the S2 to make it sound better? The driver?

Thanks

This is the first thing I am doing with my Nexus 5 (trying USB DAC on pure stock, unrooted Android 4.4 on Nexus 5)!  Got my shipped e-mail last night so I should get it early-mid next week.  I will report it as soon as I do.

Not to be a party pooper -- I'm as excited as anyone with the prospect of 4.4 having native USB audio -- but I just installed the first from-source build produced from the paranoid devs as discussed in this thread. Playing music from n7player, I plug in my RSA Predator with a known good OTG cable. The audio continues to play out the built-in speaker. Interestingly, the sound is skippy and glitchy. Meh- it's an early build with several other quirks. Hopefully we'll still get our USB out with 4.4 somehow. It sure would be about #*$#$(@ng time . . .

My Sony Xperia Z1 works with a Just Audio uDAC-2496 which draws power from USB instead of using battery.

It works on the Just Audio uHA-120Ds as it should anyway. Both are on Neutron player.

I think you should contact Davy, the developer of USB Audio Recorder PRO.

Please start USB Audio Recorder PRO, go to the Prefs tab, select Logging and then Log to file. Exit the app. Go into Android settings, Apps, select USB Audio Recorder PRO and Force Close the app. Start USB Audio Recorder PRO again and take note of what it says exactly. Let me know what it said and please email me the log file called USBAudioLog.txt in the root of your sdcard. Please email to info AT audio-evolution.com.

Playback is flawless. Actually a little too flawless..I just heard David Gilmore of Pink Floyd fame clear his throat in the quiet intro of 'Us & Them'. I certainly haven't heard that before! ha ha  Is there such a thing as too much clarity?

Galaxy S4 i9505 works with stock music app, after updated to 4.3, with Benhringer uca202. Make sure to check the option in the accessory settings (audio output).

Of course, if the Audiorecorder pro team propose a suitable player would be really great.
