Guess I'll have to get a stoner acoustic UD100 soon cuz the DAC in US version gs3 really sucks coming from iphone 4s, and there is still no word on the release date for fiio e18 or e19. gs4 is half a year away...

Would usb audio pro in this case become the player? Or just another process running in the background ?

As far as I understand, another app like Neutron Music Player using the USB Audio Android Service provided by eXtream Software Development is the player.

This USB Audio Android Service should run in the background.

 I have been following this thread from a very early stage, and i really have to appreciate what Danba has made possible for us here. I have a question from you, with the amount of Dac's/Amp's said to be working with the GSIII (in particular) and other android devices it has gotten a bit confusing for me as to which Dac/Amp to purchase for my GSIII and atrios MG7's, I might get the HE 400 in a month or so. I like the Ibasso's but its huge selection , and the Fiio E17(iv heard it sounds good with the HE 400). What would you suggest a good dac/amp is under 200$ with more emphasis on the Dac aspect and where to get a usb OTG cable for it? Thank you.

I've tried searching this thread but couldn't find the info on the following but would it be correct that for the Galaxy S3 if :-

1) non-OTG cable is used with something like the VentureCraft Go-DAP X, it's USB Audio-enabled Android mode

   - the VentureCraft Go-DAP X won't be draining or siphoning the battery off the Galaxy S3

2) OTG cable is used then it's USB Host-enabled Android mode

   - the USB DAC/Amp will be draining or siphoning the battery off the Galaxy S3?

Hey there.

I can recommend the iBasso D-zero (109$) as I've done previously in this thread. That is if you want a dac/amp for portable use. The D-zero comes with a short OTG cable (even though this isn't listed on their site) as well with a short 3.5mm male to male cable, and of course the normal usb to mini usb for charging/using via a computer.

The D-zero is one of (if not the) smallest usb/dac combos out there. It packs a lot of punch for its size and you won't be disappointed with the sound.

I spoke to eXtream Software Development they and the dev of Neutron Player, are looking into this. They are looking to see how feasible it is to implement reliably.

I am currently using Fiio E17 with mi SGS3 and it has an option to "disable" usb charging .... this is useful to avoid battery draining from SGS3 ! I don't know about the other dac/amp if they can do like this !

The Leckerton MK2 can do this as well, and works with the SGS3

So far, like the quad-core Exynos powered Galaxy S III, the new quad-core Exynos powered Samsung Galaxy Note II can work with the FiiO E7, the iBasso D12, Leckerton UHA-6S MKII, the ODAC, … ; had some issue with the HeadAmp Pico (bug fixed by HeadAmp); and doesn’t work with the FiiO E17 using the stock USB audio driver.

So, in regard to the USB protocol, the behaviour of the Galaxy Note II is likely identical to the behaviour of the Galaxy S III.
