according to some pictures of the k701 taken by some headfiers. the gray side under the headband is noticeable darker.
and also dont seem to have signs of wrinkles.
for some reason the grey part under the headband of my k701 is not as dark and has wrinkles.
other then the gray part underneath the headband everything else seems perfectly identical to the pics of other k701s.
so im starting doubt if my k701 is genuine.
judging by sound alone it doesn't sound fake.
it might just be the picture quality so i cant see the wrinkles.
can any fellow k701 owner confirm this for me?
the serial number on the left side is 64xxx.
so it could be a AKG quality drop.

What on earth do you mean "wrinkles"? It's fairly taut material on there. Do you mean the bumps? From what I understand, there are two versions of the bump pattern - the newer one lacks a bump "smack in the middle" (this was YEARS ago that this happened). Never heard of a fake K701.
This is what it looks like:
Does yours not match in some way?

from this pic it looks perfectly identical in every way.
can you take a close up picture on the padings underneath the headband especially the one near the metal cap?

Maybe he is referring to the "cracked" looking texture. My K702's have this, but I think it is perfectly normal. In any event, it does not trouble me in the least -- I have far more important things to obsess about. ;-)

yea im talking about the wrinkle texture.
its just that the pictures of the k701 headfiers took doesnt show.

That isn't my picture, it's an image I found on the web. Here's some more pictures I found, that seem to be what you're looking to see:
Again, none of these are mine. I don't have a camera. My K701 looks like all of these though. It's serial number is in the low 30,000's (I don't remember the exact #).

Yeah the last one looks very dirty - probably the result of poor personal hygiene or using the 701's during physical/outdoors activity.

the face seems to release the most skin oil. its a good idea to keep the face clean.
oil + mucus + herpes simplex virus = sores.
