Dummys explanation of VRMS

My conundrum, electrical engineering is not my thing.

 

Buying an amp which wants a 2.3v input for its full potential to be reached without a pre-amp.  My current dac spits out 2vRMS.

 

How does that work out? Based on what I gathered online and some maths I saw I guesstimate 2.8v maximum output on my dac? but that's just a guess of the uneducated.

2 Vrms * sqrt(2) = 2.828 Vp (peak) * 2 = 5.657 Vpp (peak to peak)

Now you just need to figure out if the input (2.3) is specified in Vrms or not. If not you'd probably run into clipping unless you turn down the volume in the dac.

Input voltage   2.3 volts for full output

I guess they mean Vrms but to be sure you should probably send them an email.
