I usually use Alessandro MS-1 with flats, love those headphones but my wife keeps complaining that she she can hear them......looks like I need some closed phones for when she´s around.
The other day I put on my son´s closed Denon DN-HP500, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well these HPs sound! Good tight Bass (maybe a tad thin), nice mid-range and smooth slightly rolled off highs. They have a bigger brother the DN-HP700, which from what I´ve read, are simply more of what the 500s are...so they would seem like a great choice for my preferences (+-120Euro).
However, I´ve read so many good things about the SHURE SRH 440 (80Euro), as well as the SRH840(150Euro), these would also seem to be a good fit for me but unfortunately I cannot try them locally.
I won´t spend more than 150 so Im not considering higher end models, also, I have listened to the ATH M50 and prefer the Denon SS..
I know the Denon´s would do fine but would like some comparison with SHURE´s before I pull the trigger. I´ve searched but haven´t found any direct comparisons of these phones.
Have any of you heard both these HP´s? If so could you please comment on the differences, similarities, etc?
I listen to a all types of music but mostly Classic Rock, R&B, Soul and Jazz.
