I built a gamma 2 F++. Right now I have my subwoofer attached via RCA to the gamma 2 RCA outputs and I have the gamma 1's 3.5mm output going to my audioengine A5's. I use vanilla USB power instead of a wallwart or proper power supply (work in progress).

From my dell vostro 1500 and asus eeepc 1215n, I get perfectly fine performance. I've noticed that if I plug the subwoofer to the gamma 2 rca output and the a5's to the gamma 2 3.5mm output (the output between the 2 rca jacks), my right A5 (the passive one) sounds like thunder. I concluded that it was some weird feedback caused by the subwoofer and A5's being plugged into essentually the same output jack. I think schematic wise the gamma 2 outputs are basically a 2 way analog stereo splitter. The problem was fixed by plugging one device to the gamma 1 and the other to the gamma 2.

The odd thing I noticed though was with my girlfriend's dell laptop. The moment I plug her notebook in via USB, the subwoofer starts making a deep rumbling noise. I have no idea what could be causing this but I'm 90% sure its specific to her laptop. Maybe she has weird USB power issues or maybe the OS or some other thing is piping false data to the DAC via usb's data lines. Either way, what should I do about this? She is running windows 7 home premium.
