Closest thing sonically to Zen Vision M???

Some time ago I lost my Creative Zen Vision M (which I love, love, loved the sound of).  When I started looking for a used one to replace it I discovered that there are huge problems using the device with Windows 7 - some people have managed it, some have not.  I am not exactly a computer whiz, so even trying all the complicated stuff people did is beyond me - and nothing seemed to work universally anyway.

 

I'm now trying to figure out what the next best thing would be...the absolute closest thing to the Zen sonically.  I don't mean the flattest, most accurate sound, I mean the mid-rangy, warm sound of the Zen. I'm looking for people that might be familiar with the Vision M's sound and are able to compare it to other players they are familiar with.

 

I'm so upset I can't just get another one but...I could end up with a paperweight, given Windows 7.

Get a Touch and install one of the equalizer apps (I prefer EQu.) You can then tailor the sound to mimic just about anything you want. (and this is coming from someone who owned and loved their Vision:M!)

 

BTW, can you not use MediaMonkey with Windows 7? MediaMonkey works great with the Creative products.

Thanks for the response! I haven't tried Media Monkey on Windows 7, but always used it with my late, lamented Vision M.

 

Anyone out there able to compare Cowon players to Vision M?   :)

The Zune HD, Zune 120GB, Sansa Fuze plus, Sony Z, X series walkmen are recommended and they are close match with Vision M in term of soundquality, soundsignature.

The Zune HD sounds nothing like a Sony player....
