Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

Ciao,
Do you have any preference on open vs closed headphones? where are you going to use them? do they need to be portable?

hi,
I don't have any preference on open vs closed headphones.... I'm mostly going to use it a home or during my travels... i read up on
Audio Technica ATH-M35 having a long cord and i'm ok with it... and reading the reviews and specifications both seem to be portable enough for me... the thing i want to compare between the 2 headphones i mentioned is their sound quality... i read at many places that the
Audio Technica ATH-M35 does not have a very good bass... but they were not elaborate enough on how bad the bass was... I'm not a fan of really heavy bass... like in heavy metal rock, etc... i like the bass levels produced in songs by for example Linkin Park/Kesha/Enrique/Lil Wayne/etc...I mostly listen Bollywood songs, Hans Zimmer compositions, katty perry, Lady Antebellum, westlife, taylor swift,etc...and very rarely some rock music. As I'm from India there is no place to test these 2 headphones out so i have to base everything on the expert opinions of people here :D
all help will be greatly appreciated...
I forgot to mention that i listen to music from my laptop/Mobile(LG Optimus 2X)/my old 1st gen i-pod touch(rarely)

I have not listened to either of these though I have heard the similar M40 in the distant past and it seemed pretty nice considering the price. You probably won't find very many here that have heard the M35 and as a result, no one that has heard both. There are quite a few people here with Portapros and they speak very highly of them. They will leak sound so depending on where you are listening and how loud will determine if that is an issue. Neither of these are the most efficient. The optimus 2x will likely still drive them, but probably not all that well, so I would think about getting an amp with either of these at some point if that will be a primary source.
Are these the only two headphones available to you? I ask becasue these are two very different headphones and wonder if there may be more options you may have overlooked. I know availability is always an issue in other parts of the world so it doesn't do any good to suggest other headphones that are likely not available for you.

What is your budget and what Sennheiser are you currently using and what do you not like about it?
