NASA confirms largest solar storm since 2005. Thoughts?

NASA Earth Observatory:

Following one of the longest and weakest periods of activity in many cycles, the Sun is brimming with activity again. In late January 2012, our nearest star offered a preview of what may be to come in the solar maximum of 2012–13. The storm has the potential to disrupt some communications and satellite systems and to bring auroras to high-latitude skies.

Let's hope it knocks out all the mobile phone's so we can all enjoy a bit of peace and quiet (without interfering with emergency services of course!).

I think that's the main problem if it's really happening. It's going to knock down power grids and communication so emergency services will be disrupted as well as our listening pleasure.

Time to prepare a good hiding place. People might go crazy without their cell phones.
