Looking to get a set of cans currently own sennheiser ie8

Hey there everybody! I'm looking to get a pair of over ear headphones that aren't too pricey.

I have quite a bit of experience in IEMs but literally nothing in over ear headphones. I'm  looming for some with sound comparable to the ie8s, but just more power in general. I think I will be amping them from the PA2V2. But haven't made my final decision.

ive looked into the M50s, hd 555s, and a few others.

I listen to mostly quiet alternative indie, but also enjoy greatly louder stuff like the Airborne Toxic Event and the like.

Thoughts?

thanks!

I just did some more research, and am willing to splurge a little more on them. There is just such a vast number of headphones to look at within every price range. And each has its own sound. Makes it very difficult to decide :P

Is the PA2V2 a good amp? I currently have the fiiO e5, but I don't know if that would be powerful enough to run a stronger headset.

Stick to the same vein - I'd go for a pair of HD650's - I found the IE80's to be quite warmish all round without any real

harsh highs all round - are the IE8's the same?

Anything heavy or thrashy is likely to be mastered on the 'so-so' quality scale - best to stick to something forgiving

would be my advice unless you're a demonic treblehead.

Hi thetheory. I recently took a similar journey. After a few years with IEMs (Super-fi 5 pro > Shure SE530 > Sennheiser IE8) i've recently bought my first pair of over-ears.

Are you looking for open back or closed back or open back? The hardest part for me was not losing the bass that I love on the IE8s. Having looked at the Fischer Audio FA-002W and AKG's K550 I talked myself up to a pair of Audio Technica's ATH-W1000X. They lasted less than a week and went back due to a lack of bass.

If you can go up to a pair of Denon D7000's they are just great. The bass is fantastic but not at the expense of the mids/treble.

Oh if I only had the money for the d7000s...

Ive pretty much narrowed it down to the hd598, 600, or 650. Price wise the 598 is cheapest (250) and then the 600s are next (300) and I can get the 650s at about the same price refurbished. I like the idea of a large soundscape.

One of the reseasons I've chosen these particular sets are because of their comfort. I tried out a pair of my friends hd 228s, the sound wasnt great, but my oh my we're the comfortable.

Because I don't wasn't to completely close my options I've thought about the d2000, still

Have the m50s in mind.

Ive been reading about the T50RPs and am extremely intrigued. I would love to play with them sometime, but probably need a bit more experience first.

Any other suggestions?

Would the extra 50 be worth it for the 600s?
