I haven't heard the q-Jays or UE700 yet, but they are few of the only ones that fit my price range, size + they are both dual drivers which is as high as I can go I guess with the size constraints, so I've narrowed it down to them. As far as I know they should be fairly similar to each other in signature with some minor differences. There is also the Fischer DBA-02 but from what I've read it doesn't seem to be a good match to the music I listen to.

Luckily I'm buying from a store when I can exchange for different phones if I'm not happy with the sound.

Guess so...

I have tried the Brainwavz B2 which is known to be a clone of the DBA-02, I got to agree that it sounds really lifeless and emotionless with rock, pop, pop rock, electro music. Meanwhile, you can also look at the Westone 2s, they do fit really well too.

I find it weird tho that Jays still hasn't announced anything and stores are already supposed to start receiving it. Unless there's going to be an announcement tomorrow or something.

O_O, thanks in advance then. I have a friend who is wanting to buy the Q-jays next year or so too.

So I got a call from the store rep and he said they don't know when the new model is supposed to arrive. I have a feeling they do but can't say because it hasn't been announced. Bummer. So it's either wait or get something else.

Westone 2 wouldn't be a bad choice I'm just worried about the fit since they are much bigger then the q-Jays and UE700. But if you're saying they fit really well it might be worth a shot, always wanted to get Westones but never did because I was always looking for phones that you just pop in. Fitting the larger ones against the back side of the ear never seemed to give me a very good fit. Can you wear them with the cord down or is it only around the ear?

At least there is now an official confirmation on the seller's website (even if no announcement hasn't been made yet.)

There are bigger than the Q-jays and UE700, but it's a whole different type of fit. While the Q-jays and UE700 are meant to stick out of your ear in low profile, the Westone 2s are meant to fit into the shape of your ears which isn't a matter of ear size. (weirdly). Like how the Monster Turbines do not fit me very well(keep dropping out, seal keep breaking), but the Westone 4Rs do, even though they are bigger.

Hmm, the confirmation is there but there is absolutely no sources that stated there's a successor. Maybe a Q-Jays with better cable? Since many did compliant about the cable.

Fascinating. Those x-Jays are decidedly MIA, though.

Maybe they found out it's impossible for them to create a quad-based IEM within their unique designs?

Who knows if the x-Jays will ever see the light of day.

As for q-Jays I'm pretty sure there is a new version coming since it has been confirmed to me by two separate stores. I actually called one of them back to see if they could give me an ETA and while they couldn't tell me when they're coming they said it will likely be another month or two. So now I'm thinking of either getting a temporary cheaper IEMs like the Beyerdynamic DTX 101 or get the Westone UM2. But I'm still a bit worried about the fit and they're pretty expensive to get without a possibility of refund / exchange if the fit isn't good. I guess I could always resell.

Most probably it won't.

I see, my advice is to wait 1-2 months for the Q-jays first then decide, the Westone UM2 is a very good IEM and it is sure to fit even for people with small ears. Because my cousin has small ears(really small) and the UM3x(same casing as UM2) and Westone 3/4 (Bigger than 1 and 2) did fit her.
