Etymotic HF3 vs Klipsch Referense S4i, Klipsch image x10's vs Bose MIE2i vs Monster Turbines? I can't decide which is the best pick here, and any help would be greatly appreciated. I want an in ear phone that makes the music stand out. Up to $175. I love clarity, and any help here would be wonderful. I listen to a huge variety of music. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Etymotic is renowned for its accuracy and clarity.

Turbines, Bose, S4 > bass

X10 > powerful bass but nowhere as strong as the S4,

are they all good phones? any of those listed I should avoid? bad pricing? I'm taking my time picking.

Personally? I wouldn't put the S4 in the same category as those. I think the HF3 is the best but then again, it's the only one out of the rest that I've heard : P.

Just making sure you know, but I am talking about the Reference S4i's, not the Image S4's. (and I dont want the ruggedized S5's.)

It doesn't seem like there are many reviews for the Reference S4, but judging by Klipsch's previous S4s, it'll probably still be prreeeeetty bassy.  For your wide variety of music, I think the hf5 will be good.  Have you considered the ER-4P/PT? It's not much more expensive than the hf5.

EDIT: it seems like you want something with a mic for a phone, so yeah, hf3

Overall ranking IMO. Klipsch X10> Monster Turbines = HF3 > Klipsch S4i (Have not tried the reference version though) > Bose IE2.

Basically the Bose IE2 is the worst among all that is listed as it has somewhat muddy, uncontrolled bass, although the mids is generally quite good

If you're willing to spend up to $175, I'd highly recommend you check out joker's thread for IEM reviews. There are many excellent IEMs available at that price range like the FXT90, EX600, GR07 etc. I've heard all of the options you've listed here except the ety hf3 and I think you can do much better if you're budget is at $175 .

I went with the HF3's. I thought about the X10's, but I saw jokers rating on the HF5, which is basically the same thing without ipod control, and he valued it a 9/10. If I find them to be very pleasant, and that I can keep them well, I may even get custom fits for them. :)

If you like very detailed soundquality (highs and mids) with good bass response then HF5, Braiwavz B2, ER4P, Sony EX600 are recommended and if need dynamic bass punch with good clarity in music then Yamaha EPH100, JVC FXT90, MTP Gold, UETF10Pro are good value for the money.
