Need some headphone recommendations...

Hey all. Im getting a blu ray drive for my PC mainly to watch movies on and I would like to know what headphones would be best to get for watching said movies. My onboard sound card on my motherboard should be ok(ALC892 Chipset) so I wouldn't think I would need to get a separate sound card. And maybe some gaming here and there, but i do not need a mic. My price range is around 100-200 dollars

Any and all advice will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Both will work great for movies and gaming.

+1

you can also stretch the budget to under 250 and get the denon ah-d2000. if you call and order from J&R you can get them anywhere from 200-230 shipped.

what do you guys think about the Audio Technica AD-700s? A lot of people recommended these ones for me also

i think beyerdynamics are the best audiophile headphones to start off with. they offer a very broad fq response. speaking directly about the DT line> specifically the 880's since those are the median of the group. they offer great sound on almost any audio input( the 32ohm version of course) if you automatically plan on matching this with a somewhat powerful amp you can get the 250's or the 600hm for roughly the same price as the 32ohms. but since these might be more than your suggested cost. the old DT pro line which cost a 3rd of the newer models have a matching sound quality. i own the older DT 770 pros and they sound very good plugged into many outputs even being that they are 80ohms. The 770's offer more bass. the 990 pros are open back, which lower the overall low end output. If your not a Beyer fan, other member suggestions are some i can agree with.

This is what I was going to recommend.  The AD700 is my only fully open headphone, and it works great for movies.  The cable is really long (about 10ft., I think).

Audio Technica ATH-AD700 has some good points, but the light bass is a turn off.

yes for movies the bass would not be sufficient so id stray away from the ad700. I'd have to agree would Dubstep Girl and recommend the denon d2000
