I guess you're right about it being tempermental. I guess I left it too long for charging, the reason for the heat causing it to malfunction. I have spared it this week, and noticed it behaves normally now.

I actually love everything about it. The size & micro-sd option is my main reason why I keep it. The only problem is some files recognize the artwork while others dont.

JetAudio maybe needs to do an update for the overcharging issue (if there is any)

I dont use a third party app. on the Z2. I use the custom equalization.

You're battery draining over night, may be an indication that the battery is dying and therefore not holding the charge

A single full charge lasts my Z2 for almost 10 days, although I listen to it only 2-3 times a week for 2 hours maximum.

I will be interested to see what Cowon come up with next. The Z2 seems to have many problems (all minor but still annoying). Do they do software updates regularly? This is my first Cowon product.

I can vouch for this, because during hurricane sandy, I didnt have power for 10 days since trees knocked down the power lines.

During this time I listened to the Z2 an hour in the morning, evening & night (total 3 hours sometimes) for 2-3 days without any internet. I dont have anything installed except for the latest firmware which you can find here (if you havent downloaded yet)

I did watch some movies too in between these times too.

I did not have any power to charge my device. The device drained on the 10th day (when I got back my power).

The Z2 plays mp3 & video files (no audio/video sync abnormalities) flawlessly is also why I love this player.

I have disabled wireless/bluetooth setting, also some other apps which run in the background thereby xtending the battery life.

When you are on the home screen, slide down from top of the screen & that will bring up whats running in the background. From there, I disabled whatever I didnt want.

I'm pretty sure Cowon/JetAudio are the same. I wasnt aware of the 2nd website you've mentioned. its strange there is 2 different websites.

Do you have v.35 installed or v.31. Did you notice any change in battery life when making the switch.

Cowon/JetAudio lists this product with 22 hours playback time for music. (In the 10 days I mentioned, I havent used it for 22 hours, maybe 18 hours & offing the device when not in use, no stand-by, no live wall papers etc.)

Apps (running in the back ground) & Internet use is definetely going to shorten the battery life. Also you mention Korean apps that pop up, maybe its coming from some app you've installed previously. I only have apps that's pre-loaded with the Z2.

Maybe you should do a factory restore and see with just the latest firmware, if it makes a difference. Mind you, do a factory restore, only if you feel the apps keep popping up and standby doesnt help. Dont junk the Z2 with apps you dont use. Sometimes ''FREE'' apps comes with other features and pop ups.

When I leave my player on standby and resume, I have nothing running in the background that was disabled.

Hello everybody and sorry for the gravedigging, but google keep sending me to this topic and I see that there is a nice base of Cowon Z2 owners.

I have a question, the specs on the website say that there is NO s/pdif, while the owner manual says that s/pdif is present. 

Can somebody with a Z2 confirm or deny the presence of s/pdif output that would allow me to connect the player to an hi-fi amp? I am interesting mainly at this type of usage, so this info would really make my day.

I have to say for videos, its an excellent player. You can actually pinch to zoom in & out without cropping it
