Price range will affect the answer to that question. My E11 does a decent job.

Fiio E17 is now $103.  http://www.amazon.com/Fiio-E17-USB-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B0070UFMOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375166403&sr=8-1&keywords=e17.  I have it and it's a nice combo DAC/Amp but maybe you're only looking for an amp in which case I've read the E11 is the better amp.

Personally I'd look at the C&C BH (wish I had known about this one before buying my E11) or maybe a CMoy; the E11 does fine but I've never been truly impressed by anything about it, and the fact that it can't be used while charging is really annoying.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce this: My DT770AE's are for sale.

I love the sound, but they don't get the attention they deserve. They need to go to a good home that will give them proper headtime.

Is it true Beyerdynamic is going to release these in an Unlimited Edition at a lower price?

They already have.

They are fairly easy to work with. First, you pull off the earpads. Then, using a flat-head screwdriver, you pop out the black plastic locking ring that holds the driver in place, so you can get at the wires. There's a small metal clip holding the original cable in place. Pull this up and the cable is easily removed, once the wires are unsoldered, off course.

I highly recommend the Mogami 2893 - very sturdy, but crazy flexible and pretty reasonably priced.

If you search there is a whole thread about the DT770 RC DIY mod.

Man...anyone who wants to hear the best of these babies should download the song Tiwanacu by Shiva Shidapu (make sure it's FLAC or WAV); for those of you who know who that is, it's not a psytrance track in any way. It's a really impressive song to hear with the LEs.

Has anyone heard a price quoted in the US for the DT770 Pro 32ohm, the non-limited edition version?

B&H seem to be selling them for $250.  The pics on the page are showing the 250 Ohm version but the description is the 32 Ohm.
