For Sale:
Custom Solid Walnut Dual Headphone Stand
Will Ship To: CONUS
Hi there!
Up for sale is a custom headphone stand that I designed and built. The stand is made from solid walnut hardwood with a thin clear lacquer finish, and it was designed to hold two headphones. The reason I'm selling it is that I just don't have the desk space for this stand anymore, and moreover I have managed to narrow down my collection of headphones to just a single pair.
As described, the stand is made from solid walnut -- the base is 2" thick, the center post is 2x2" in cross section, the cross-bar is made from a 1" diameter dowel, and the headphone rests are made from stacked walnut boards for a total width of 2". The construction is very solid, with no slack or movement in any of the joints. The center post is held to the base with wood glue in addition to a pair of 3" deck screws. The cross-bar passes through a hole in the center post and is glued in place. The cross bar also inserts into a hole in both the headphone rests, where it is also glued in place. All edges are finished with a routed 0.25" round-over.
The headphone rests in this design are of particular interest. When viewed from the side, they are shaped like a football -- on most headphones, the headband rests across the entire top side of the football. The idea behind this was so that the weight of the headphone would be distributed across a much larger area, thereby preventing any dents from forming in the padding on the underside of the headband. I made the headphone rests to have a 2.25" radius of curvature, which seems to fit most headphones very well (see example pictures). The only pair of headphones I've found that don't fit so well are the HD800 -- the curvature of the HD800's headband is too tight.
Overall, this headphone stand was a substantial investment of both my time and my money. Therefore, I am asking for $SOLD for the stand. That price includes shipping to anywhere in the continental U.S. Payment would be via PayPal; the buyer would be responsible for picking up the 3% PayPal fee (or the money could be sent as a gift, if the buyer is comfortable with that).
Thanks for your interest! Please feel free to PM me if interested, or if you have any questions!
