Nice Headphones for Big Head?

Thread Starter

I have a big head.  With any pair of headphones I try on I just about always need to stretch it out to maximum size for it to be comfortable on me.  To give you a point of reference, I got a Sennheiser 360 pc headset for Christmas and it is way too tight even when it is extended all the way.

I tend to like studio headphones for their accuracy but I'm open to all suggestions.  I definitely want over-the-ear headphones though, that's not up for debate.  Anybody have any suggestions for me?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Price range:  I'd prefer for the price to be less than $300.

It will technically fit, but it won't feel comfortable. Even on my head, which is average, the M50 hurts to wear for over half an hour. While it's technically on its smallest setting to fit my head, it still clamps quite a lot.

I believe he meant the AIR and ART monitor series; ATH-AD and ATH-A. Like the A900. Generally the ATH-A and ATH-W series are regarded as favoring the cranially well-endowed. The Denon AH-D2000 isn't a terrible suggestion. I remember my T70s getting fairly huge when all the way stretched out too; the DT770 should be identical in terms of fitment (and will actually fit into your price range). I think the Sony MDR-SA series can expand quite a lot too; the SA3000 is well under the budget (it's open though; not sure if that's a problem). My suggestion would be to to look for something that isn't "clampy" more than looking for something "big" (so avoid Ultrasone, most Sennheisers, most professional/studio headphones, that sort of thing).
