Question about JVC harx700's

I have a few questions about the JVC harx700 I just ordered

 

1. what can i expect from them after only owning my sennheiser 201. What is the sound quality going to be like unmodded between the two?

 

2. I feel dumb for actually asking this but I know of the foam mod for the harx700. I have no foam laying around other than a spare foam matress topper that is used for extra padding on beds would it work just as well if i were to cut some of that up and use it?

 

3. Also what can i really expect after i get doing the foam mod as well as the felt mod where part of the felt is removed that covers the driver holes?

I've got no way of comparing them to the Sennheiser 201s and I'm a newbie so I wouldn't trust my opinion. But I did compare them to my old Sennheiser HD477s and in comparison they bring the sound a lot closer and more engaging; the Sennheisers sound very distant in comparison whereas with the JVCs it sounds like the music is all around my head. The bass on the JVCs is also a lot more appealing, it seems to have a lot more impact. The only thing that they might be lacking is that the Sennheisers might be a bit clearer but overall the JVCs are WAY more fun to listen to, the reason I love them.

 

Also I don't have any foam either so instead I saw a video on youtube where a guy rolled up a tissue and tucked that under the pads and tried that. It worked well comfort-wise but I didn't like the way it dampened the sound so I took them out. It may just have been the difference in densities between a rolled up tissue and foam. But I have no idea where to get foam from besides expensive sheets of audio foam so I'd be interested in any replies to this aswell.

1- The jvc's is a step up over the 201's.
