Anything by Harry Gregson Williams, including the game soundtracks he's done.

The entire collection of The Lord of the Rings score composed by Howard Shore. Few scores are worthy to be associated w/ this masterpiece.

Psycho - Bernard Hermann

Days of Heaven - Ennio Morricone

Band a Parte (Band of Outsiders) - Michel Legrand

One from the Heart - Tom Waits

The Shining (not really a soundtrack but great music by Bartok and Penderecki, and a good version of Dies Iraes by Wendy Carlos).

Vangelis- "Blade Runner"

Tron: Legacy, just because it was from my favorite band. I also really liked watchmen for some reason.

Drive, and The girl with the Dragon tatoo.

Anything written by Joe Hisaishi, specifically Ghibli films.

Anything written by Ryuichi Sakamoto, especially the Tony Takitani soundtrack.

And +1 for Cowboy Bebop and LotR.

Oooh how I love soundtracks! Of course everything by John Williams is awesome, as others already noted.

Now I can not believe nobody mentioned The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford soundtrack

or any other soundtrack made by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, for that matter.
I really encourage everyone to listen to this masterpiece.

And the Brothers Bloom OST by Nathan Johnson!

The Dark Knight - Hans Zimmer

Up - Michael Giacchino

Road to Perdition - Thomas Newman

Kingdom of Heaven - Harry Gregson Williams

Tron Legacy - Daft Punk (remix album is even better IMO)

you forgot to add Hans zimmer. Daft punk actually only did like one or two songs for Tron. Hans Zimmer actually composed most of it. shame Daft punk gets all the credit for it when they were basically assisted and helped by Hans Zimmer himself.
