Possible to repair my S4s?

I had this Klipsch Image S4i for a while (back in 2009), and after damaging the wires due to poor pocket placement, my S4s started to cause problems, and eventually stopped working. The last time I tested these headphones was 2010, and recently I took off the cover thing that protects the wires and the port. An image can be seen here:

My question is is it possible to fix the wiring, and if possible, where can I get this fixed? I have no prior skill with soldering, so I do not wish to try to fix it on my own. Thank you. :)

I'd buy a new headphone jack from monoprice/radioshack. Cut the wire about from the damaged part. Use a wire stripper to remove the insulation at the new end (around 1 inch). Use a soldering iron to burn off some of the protection on each individual wire(there should be 3). Attach left to the left, right to the right, ground to the ground. Solder. And you're done.

Yes, it's possible. But I don't think you can send it off to Klipsch and have it then. It might be worth sending an email and seeing if they can fix it for a repair fee since you're out of warranty.

Not sure if its worth paying someone to repair it. I don't even know where you would go and the S4's are pretty cheap to begin with.

I would take this opportunity to start soldering!! tongue.gif

If your sure thats the area thats causing you problems, from the picture it looks like it would be a pretty simple job of cutting out the bad piece, cutting some wire of equal size and soldering it into place. Once you try your hand at soldering, expecially that easy of a job, you will realize just how simple it is.

Other than that I cant help you. Not sure where you would take that in, and if you did, it would probly cost more than a new pair. Maybe a friend that isnt sqemish about it? Other than that buy a new pair. They OFTEN go on sale at newegg and amazon for 40-50. Sometimes less.

Do you guys know where I can get a 3.5mm TRRS connector in Canada that I can use to solder my S4i wires to the plug?
